VR REVIEW | Wall Town Wonders

I knew I wasn’t going insane! See everyone…There are Tiny People living in my walls and giving me orders!
Ahem, Wall Town Wonders is the game that many of us have been looking forward to for quite some time. With it’s cast of adorable tiny people to it’s space management, it is an experience filled with whimsy and delight. You begin with a strange watch and a mini explosion as your tiny friends break through your wall and into your life. You are given a little exposition which, I won’t spoil here, but needless to say, you will be more than willing to give these little guests all the help they need. My one worry about the game was that, as the room I tested the game in was full of posters, I would have trouble placing my little townsfolk. However, they just blasted through them and made them part of the décor (some of those posters were expensive). I will say though, on occasion, you will need a little patience when performing some of the tasks you are set, but with a game like this, you are meant to take a more relaxed approach anyway. So, slow down and enjoy the ride, as it were.

Wall Town Wonders is a game I hope to see updated regularly with more tasks and townspeople as time goes on. I really enjoyed playing this wee gem, and I hope some of you will give the tiny people living in your walls a helping hand from time to time too.

Things I liked!

  • The Freedom | The ability to create a town in whatever room of your home you choose and to utilize your space however you see fit. Like with any cosy building sim, you make the choices, make your town as unique as you want and let your creativity be your guide. Also, you don’t have to keep everything where it is; you can move buildings to better suit your vision and make your little townsfolk happy.
  • Mixed Reality | The mixed reality aspect of Wall Town Wonders has been done extremely well. The Meta Quest 3 scans the layout of your room, and then your town and townspeople take into account things like tables, chairs, or even that pile of books in the corner, and make use of them as part of the game. No space is wasted, and even if you have a smaller room, you can still enjoy this game to the fullest. I loved seeing the townspeople interacting with my living room, and even though they destroyed my posters, they were still a welcome sight when I loaded up the game.

Mixed & disliked!

  • No voice actors | I would have loved to hear them talk in their own distinct voices. They all look so full of personality that hearing them talk would have added so much to the beauty of the game. I understand why sometimes voice actors aren’t used, for example in terms of localisation, but I hope they implement it in the future.
  • Tasks can be tricky | Sometimes you have to take one of your tiny people to a destination in your room and set them down. Unfortunately, it can be a little tricky when sometimes the destination might be down the back of a table or perhaps the meta quest hasn’t scanned everything, and you end up having to reset because they want to be set don inside the couch rather than on top. These are minor issues though, and I am sure that they will be sorted in a future update.

CONCLUSION

Score: 92/100 – I had a lot of fun playing Wall Town Wonders and I would heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, relaxed, cosy experience to play on their Quest 3. Apart from the small issues I mentioned, I can honestly say that I adore chilling out and helping my tiny townsfolk build and thrive throughout my room. Grab Wall Town Wonders for your Meta Quest 3 or 3S and just let yourself be taken into the enchanted world beyond your walls.
