You’ve probably all heard of George Orwell, most of you probably from mandatory reading in high school. His novels 1984 and Animal Farm have been in the spotlight since the previous century. The latter one was already brought to life in a movie, and now there’s even a game, Orwell’s Animal Farm, developed by Nerial! For those of you unfamiliar with the story, let me give you a quick introduction. In this story, a group of farm animals rebel against the farmer, pushing him to the point of leaving the farm. By doing this, the animals hope to create a society where the animals can be equal, free, and happy. The pigs end up playing a big role, and big surprise: not everything goes accordingly.
We played Orwell’s Animal Farm for 5 hours on PC.
Orwell’s Animal Farm is a text-based choose-your-own-adventure game. There are 6 different destinies to encounter, and no less than 8 endings, and 23 characters to meet! I particularly loved the various endings; will the farm be left totally empty, will Napoleon end up ruling, or will you reach one of the other endings? Your choices impact the ending. Along the way, you’ll also encounter a book filled with achievements. Every now and then, you’ll get a stamp when you reach one until hopefully, you get all 48! I myself wasn’t familiar with this book of Orwell, but I am sure people who know the story, will enjoy this game more. However, playing this one, made me curious about the book so I might actually get it and finally read it! It also seems like a great way for older kids to learn about this story. Like the developers put it themselves: Immerse yourself in George Orwell’s story of absolute power and corruption and follow the ups and downs of Animalism.
