We love all sorts of games. Sometimes it is hard to cover a game in our traditional review style that’s why we have tidbit-style reviews. These shorter reviews cover games that deserve attention too but simply don’t fit our good, mixed, and bad template. In addition, they get a monthly summary article to give them even more reader attention!

Train Valley 2: Community Edition is a resource managing game that tasks you to build an effective train network. You have to transport humans by trains from cities to production buildings to get resources and payments. For all that, rail placement to save time is crucial for reaching performance stars. Various objectives are also found in all the levels for additional stars, which can be used to unlock new trains. Building long tracks, not crashing trains or reaching enough resources. They aren’t difficult to complete but keeping an eye on the bigger picture becomes challenging. The moment you have multiple trains in transit or completing multiple resource paths it needs your full attention.

Gameplay is fairly tactical and requires micro management for keeping things safe for your train drivers. You don’t want to crash a train for example or have an insufficient railroad track. Avoiding collisions is your priority, it costs a lot of money and precious time to fix that. It happens though, on the most unexpected moments… most of the times because you forgot to change a rail direction. There is a deep learning curve but if you manage to hold out Train Valley 2: Community Edition is a rewarding experience with an insane amount of content.

There are two big negative things to say in an underwise enjoyable strategy experience. First is the confusing way of building tracks, luckily mistakes are easily fixed by pressing the B-button. Want to curve your track left or right? This might take you a bit longer than expected as you never really know how your directional press turn out. Secondly, the time objectives for some levels are near impossible to do on consoles. This is a PC port and some of the timings are clearly designed for keyboard and mouse gamers. Overall Train Valley 2: Community Edition is a game I recommend for gamers who enjoy challenging gameplay.
