Review | Sturmfront The Mutant War: Übel Edition

LifeisXbox’s Sturmfront The Mutant War: Übel Edition review | The battle sisters’ blades hunger for blood. While on the other side of the battlefield, Space Marines from the Ordo *muffled whispers* … What? *more muffled whispers* But everything looks like *whispering intensifies*. Why? … Ugh, okay. Ladies and gentlemen, please forgive me for I have seemingly mistaken this game to be something from another franchise. So, let me back things up and start from the beginning. This is Sturmfront The Mutant War Ubel Edition. The thought child that came out of Andrade Games. Here, you play as Siegfried von Hammerstein, an experimental cyber soldier engineered for warfare. You are sent to earth which has been consumed by chaos and has been transformed into a hotbed of perpetual sin and other horrifying pleasure. Will you be able to burn the heresy from that which has permeated the very soil of this planet, or will you fall before these unholy forces…? Let’s find out in this short review of… Sturmfront The Mutant War: Übel Edition… Ugh, you do know that this really reeks of *angered whispers*. But come on this plot *vicious stare*. Okay okay, calm your horses.

This is a short review, our usual the good, mixed and the bad was difficult because of the nature of this game. We played Sturmfront The Mutant War – Übel Edition for 3 hours on Xbox Series X

Sturmfront is that subtle nod towards the golden era that was the arcade shooters era, but with a modern spin to it.
First of all, if you are a fan of metal music? Then take this feast to your ears. Sturmfront is laden with nice heavy metal tracks. Though they do tend to be in a loop. You need not worry about no variety, because Andrade Games has got you covered on that front as well. Each level consists out of a wide selection of enemy types. These vary from tiny spider-like things and only scale bigger and badder the further you go down the rabbit hole.
Visually, you’ll have to re-adjust yourself and maybe tweak your color settings a bit. Why? The chosen color theme is really… Vibrant, to say the least. I had to cut sessions short because my head started hurting purely because of it being way too damn bright and contrast heavy! The old-school vibe is literally strewn about everywhere.
The general gameplay is fairly simple, but don’t let that allow you to think that it’ll be a walk in the park though. It ramps up its difficulty from 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye, and before you know it? You’ll be restarting the entire level again! The enemies can really overwhelm you, with what I can only describe as bullet diarrhea. So if you don’t want to be drenched? Be sure to keep on moving when the bullets are a-flyin’.

Sturmfront The Mutant War: Übel Edition makes no sense at all, and that’s perfectly okay. It is not a long game as much as it is annoying and infuriating. And that is what most likely will lure players in time and again for that “one final push”. It’s filled with gore, lewd insinuations, and craziness, but it didn’t really win me over. Fun for a short session, a chore for a longer one.
