We love all sorts of games. Sometimes it is hard to cover a game in our traditional review style that’s why we have tidbit-style reviews. These shorter reviews cover games that deserve attention too but simply don’t fit our good, mixed, and bad template. In addition, they get a monthly summary article to give them even more reader attention!
RunBean Galactic | Score: 70%

Sometimes the easiest gameplay concept results in countless amusing hours. RunBean Galactic is nothing more than jumping or rolling to avoid hazards. Crazy simple but incredibly addictive. When you die you immediately want to give it another try to improve your high score or get a better result on the worldwide leaderboards. I was a bit disappointed that not much effort was done into rewarding the player or giving the game more depth. Run Barry, Run… or in this case Run, nameless space hero, run… that hero lands on a planet and starts his never-ending running adventure.
Visually things are decent enough but perfectly playable on an Xbox 360. That’s fine though, the important thing here was that dangers on the planet stand out and that’s definitely the case. If you look at the screenshot you’ll notice the yellow obstacles, a floating key, and a purple signpost. There are a few things missing, for example, the red spikes but you recognize instantly what needs to be done. That purple signpost makes things considerably more difficult as you’ll change your running direction. That 35 in the screenshot is your overall score, the higher it gets the faster your character will run and there is a day and night cycle too.
You unlock new skins but those can be earned in the first couple of minutes, RunBean Galactic lacks any rewarding unlocks and a few more different planets wouldn’t have hurt either for more longevity. Despite the additional depth, the game is very enjoyable, and trying to beat your friends and strangers’ high scores is reason enough to play it for multiple hours.
