Oh boy, oh boy! Here we got yet another indie game for you people! But it’s not just some random Indie; it’s a freaking platformer! This time we are taking a look at our Luciform review, which is made by the people over at Chaos Minds. When I started playing this game, there was something about this little bunny hopping on these platforms! So buckle up, and let this platform freak tell you all about it!
We played Luciform for 6 hours on PC.
What we liked!
- Platforming: What is there not to like! I wouldn’t put platforming first if the actual platforming part were not mind-blowing! You run and jump around, seemingly undisturbed, trying to get to the end of the level! And will it get you hooked? Damn, yes, it will! It’s hard to bring to you guys how great the platforming itself feels and the depth that comes with the color swapping, but if you believe me on my word, it is well done.
- Graphics: We must admit, Luciform was well made. Yes, the overall graphics are simple, but they are meant to be that way. Every part of the level feels the same, but I’m glad it is. The minimalistic style allows you to focus better on the game’s actual essence: not failing your jumps.
- Color-blind mode: This might not be all too major to most people, but Luciform has a color-blind mode. I am not color-blind myself, but I can see why this would be hard for some players. Chaos Minds took the time out of their busy days to make an option that swaps the colors based on what type of color-blind you might be. It even has the names for it in the menu!
- Adjustable challenge: Something that was added yesterday really showed how much the dev cares about our enjoyment. The game can get tough if your little bunny runs forward the whole time. And since the latest update, you can manually move your bunny. So it doesn’t run the entire time! Great for people that are new to platformers and want a little bit more of a relaxed experience.
- Skill-floor: The game starts relatively slow, as do most games. But then the game progresses to become more complex level by level. It won’t be too hard for you to complete if you are really into platformers, but it will surely take you quite a few tries to nail. So there is something for every type of player here.
Somewhere between
- Key binds: I must say the game does feel smooth to play once you get used to the different keybindings set on default, but they aren’t auto-adjusting to your keyboard layout. So I had to swap my setup to QWERTY to have the most optimal experience (I could have used the key rebind function, but hey).
What we disliked
- Honestly, there was nothing noteworthy to complain about.
