REVIEW | Lily in Puzzle World

We love all sorts of games. Sometimes it is hard to cover a game in our traditional review style that’s why we have tidbit-style reviews. These shorter reviews cover games that deserve attention too but simply don’t fit our good, mixed, and bad template. In addition, they get a monthly summary article to give them even more reader attention!

Lily’s a Super Meatboy game so graphically simple that it is playable on an old Gameboy. It has no enemies, no story, nothing original of gameplay but still managed to charm me.

Lily’s a Super Meatboy game so graphically simple that it is playable on an old Gameboy. It has no enemies, no story, nothing original of gameplay but still managed to charm me. It is a short game, actually made mostly for Achievement hunters, but the simple controls and minimal difficulty make it a good buy for younger gamers as well.

The 50 or so levels are each one screen-full. With a clear A to B point, along the way you have to get a key in order to open the exit. You also have collectibles to unlock hats, but they have no gameplay impact. The black and white visual style is very simple, with Lily being the only color. Our oval character does gain a lot of charm because of this. And yes, I also think Lily looks like a multivitamin pill. Lily in Puzzle World is thus a typical platformer that Eastasiasoft and Ratalaika, for example, do dare to release more. That’s okay with me! Because a shorter game of about an hour or two is nice to do once in a while among all those bigger releases.
