LifeisXbox’s Infinitrap: Rehamstered review | Here we go, another game in a genre I thought I wouldn’t find. Today, ladies and gentlemen, we will take a look at Infinitrap: Rehamstered, a charming precision platformer but also a game that screams to be speedy. Yet, you need to also give it some time to get to know it well. So let’s see what Shadebob Games did to make me enjoy Infinitrap: Rehamstered this much.

What we liked!
- A story: Something that is just one of the things that I enjoyed about Infinitrap: Rehamstered is the little story between the main character and the skeleton. It is trying to give you some insight, but even I fell for the trap of just ignoring him, yet he seems to know what he is talking about. You get to learn more and more about specific events and characters in a way that isn’t a dull monologue that’s being pushed on you.
- Scenery: As with most Indie games, you must know what you are getting into. Yes, you are not getting some high shader 4K content, but you are getting quite a neatly themed dungeon. And that does a lot for me when it comes down to enjoyment. You run around in what seems to be an ever-evolving dungeon with different elements along the way. Never felt bored, so a big win for me here.
- Speedrun aspects: Infinitrap: Rehamstered feels different. It just tends to linger towards ‘you can do this in 2 ways’. You either go hard and score the best time possible, or you play it casually and be a really caring person, and try to acquire everything. But if you go fast, you have so many tools at your disposal! You get lives as long as you get coins. If you get hit, they drop to 0, and then you die, so you can just rush from coin to coin and hope to not die. This way, you can set a great score on the leaderboards. It only all comes together in a significant way that is hard to describe.
- Sound: Infinitrap: Rehamstered has done a great job when it comes down to the sound stage. You get a few sounds, not too crowded, but not empty? It’s nothing too special, to be fair. It guided me through the game without annoying me, which is a plus.
Somewhere between
- Map movement: It’s not really a dislike moment here, but it’s something I just felt that missed. At certain moments, when levels got more complex, I would have loved the ability to move my camera around or have a mini-map to check where I have been. It became evident that this should have been a feature when I required 3 keys in a logical order for doors around the map. I really hope that Shadebob Games adds this to Infinitrap: Rehamstered in the future.
What we disliked
- Store/permanent upgrades: I would have really loved to see an option to acquire permanent upgrades based on performance. Or just a simple way to spec into what I felt like I need in Infinitrap: Rehamstered: more speed / more hitpoints / loose fewer coins on being hit. Maybe have some power-up so I can quicksave as a checkpoint? If you are playing as a casual player who does not aim to become the fastest, there is little incentive to replay levels. I don’t know, this just upset me a little.
