LifeisXbox’s Exo One Review | How does exploring different planets sound to you? If you’re a fan of exploration, mystery, and reaching high speeds without being competitive, Exo One is gonna be a nice experience for you! The mystery of an accident that slowly unveils and the soothing feeling of traversing the landscapes of different planets makes it one of the most unique experiences I’ve had this year. Exo One has been developed by Exbleative and published by Future Friends Games and Exbleative.
“Exo One is a great experience, where you traverse unique and beautiful locations while uncovering an interesting mystery”

What we liked!
- Easy to Play | Playing Exo One is something that is very simple to do. You build up your speed and energy by traversing the ground whilst also being able to ramp and glide through the skies. If you’re really high up, you will have the ability to dive, therefore building up your speed in order to be able to get to your objective flying. In addition, you’re able to break the sound barrier with your speed; it’s pretty satisfying to do so.
- Straightforward | The objective in Exo One is to get to some kind of launcher that sends you to another planet. While you are doing this, you do uncover a story regarding a crew that went missing on Jupiter. However, even though it is interesting, it’s not what you’re going to enjoy the most about Exo One. There are some collectibles that allow you to upgrade your ship to travel faster and have more energy, but I don’t believe it’s necessary to get any of them in order to finish the game.
- Beautiful Graphics | Exo One is admitedly great to look at as each planet looks different and there’s no doubt about all of them looking good. They certainly fitted the theme of Exo One and in my opinion, every planet looked unique in their appearance. This is because they had different terrains. Here are a few examples of them: There’s a planet that is mostly aquatic, meaning you’ll have to dive into the water a few times to build up your speed, which is cool (if you’re not a fan of going underwater, this is gonna be a little bit uncomfortable). There’s a planet that feels like a jungle, it has plenty of vegetation and a few weird-looking structures in it. There’s also a gas planet, which forces you to fly the whole time, going into clouds makes you go higher so flying non-stop is not a problem in it. There are some other interesting planets to explore with their own peculiarities, but I don’t want to spoil them as this is somewhat of a short experience.
- Subtle Soundtrack | Most of the time you’re not going to be listening to the Exo One soundtrack, but when it is present, the soundtrack is a good one and fits Exo One pretty well. You may be asking yourself why I said that most of the time you won’t be listening to the soundtrack and the reason is that when you’re traversing the terrain, the sounds that are the loudest are the ones that are coming from your ship. There are also sounds you will hear that are specific for each planet, and with this focus on the ambience and your ships’ sounds, it makes you feel alone and relaxed in your journey which fits Exo One pretty nicely.
Somewhere between
- Nothing | I couldn’t think of anything that fits this category.
What we disliked
- Technical Problems | I experienced a few graphical issues while playing Exo One. Some terrain and cloud textures didn’t look great. I’m guessing this isn’t a problem on PC, but it’s worth mentioning that while playing on an Xbox One, it happened a few times. Unfortunately, I also encountered noticeable frame drops in places.
How long to beat the story | Approximately 1½ – 2 Hours

Hi there, I’m Gabriel Colombo (Hence my reviewer name), I live in Brazil and I’ve been gaming since I was around 5 years old. Xbox became my main platform on the Xbox 360 era, before that I had played a bit on PC, Polystation (basically a skinned SNES), PlayStation 1 and 2. I really enjoy to experience immersive worlds, but I also enjoy playing silly games to have a laugh or just have fun.
