LifeisXbox’s Circa Infinity Review | Circa Infinity is quite a difficult puzzle game that looks and feels unique and simple, with the objective of always going into the centre. Even though I played almost all of Circa Infinity, I’m not sure if you could say that it has a story, if it does, it’s a very subtle one. There are plenty of enemies in your way, so, get ready to be somewhat confused in levels with a lot of them. Will you be able to get into the centre of it all? Circa Infinity has been developed by Kenny Sun and published by RedDeerGames.
“Circa Infinity is a very solid platformer that feels pretty unique, I’ve never seen a game that felt quite like this one did”

What we liked!
- Gameplay | Your objective in Circa Infinity is always to get to the center. Each time you start outside of a circle and for each part of a level you are first made to go inside of the circle and then jump in the center of it to get to the next section until you get to the last section of a level; where you jump into a black and white portal. There are a few different enemies that come in static, walking, flying, and jumping varieties. There’s also one type of enemy that changes which side of the circle he’s in, outside or inside. If you touch any of them, you go back one circle before the one you just died in. Circa Infinity becomes more complex the further into the game you get. For example, you start with a male character with just one type of enemy and eventually you will have to control two characters at the same time. Furthermore after that, there are even colored portals you have to traverse to not be killed by an enemy. It can be quite brutal, as you can be sent multiple circles back if you are spawned into a bad place on the last circle, and trust me, it becomes harder and harder to keep track of everything you have to.
- Minimalistic Looks | I know what you’re probably thinking by looking at the images in this review, Circa Infinity looks very simplistic, and you’re right, it is simplistic-looking. It isn’t trying to be realistic, it’s aiming at old-school visuals, with characters and enemies looking pretty simple. Nonetheless, it fits the game so well that it doesn’t matter that it isn’t highly detailed, since the focus here is clearly on the gameplay. PS: Some people may feel unwell because of the games visuals.
- Good Performance | Circa Infinity runs very smoothly. I only recall having performance issues on a specific level and I didn’t experience any bugs throughout what I managed to play. I say that as I couldn’t finish Circa Infinity due to the difficulty. I do know that I did get very far into it because there are five levels which all consist of eleven parts each (counting the boss battles), and I did manage to get to the sixth level and on the fifth part. Up until that point, I didn’t notice any bugs in Circa Infinity and I didn’t encouter any more performance issues being shown either.
Somewhere between
- Repeating Soundtrack | First things first, I have to admit that the soundtrack here does fit the game, and it sounds good, but when you’re stuck in a level for half an hour as I was, it becomes very tiresome to hear it repeating itself so much. It does add to the rage you feel for trying the same thing for so long, and it just makes you want to stop playing for a while until you want to try again later.
- Hard as Hell | As touched upon in one of my previous points, Circa Infinity is brutal. This is very subjective though which is why I decided to put it in this section but I thought the game was very hard. The controls are pretty simple, only requiring you to move with the analog stick and jump/go into the ground with the A button but it depends if you’re inside or outside of the circle. I’m not a huge fan of extremely hard games because it makes me not really have fun or get immersed in a game anymore. Even though I raged, I did also had fun with Circa Infinity. Currently, only 0.81% of players finished Part V on Xbox and in comparison; 25.81% completed Part I, and 8.87% completed Part II, so it’s safe to say that this game is not for everyone due to its difficulty.
- Lacking Replayability | There aren’t many reasons for you to want to replay Circa Infinity unless you want to challenge yourself even more and go for the achievements you’re yet to obtain. Your time spent on each level and chapter can be seen in the menus. There’s also one indicator that shows if you completed a level without dying, but other than that, there isn’t anything substantial. There aren’t secret levels to unlock, or collectibles for you to find. You have to complete levels in a specific way, like not dying, only going towards one direction for the entire level, completing a level by only jumping (no walking allowed), and being very quick to get some achievements. The replayability is mostly relevant to achievement hunters.
What we disliked
- Nothing | There’s nothing I can think of that is undeniably bad about Circa Infinity, it is an interesting game that looks good, sounds good, and runs smoothly.
How long to beat the story | Approximately 5-10 Hours
How long to achieve 1000G | Approximately 25 Hours

Hi there, I’m Gabriel Colombo (Hence my reviewer name), I live in Brazil and I’ve been gaming since I was around 5 years old. Xbox became my main platform on the Xbox 360 era, before that I had played a bit on PC, Polystation (basically a skinned SNES), PlayStation 1 and 2. I really enjoy to experience immersive worlds, but I also enjoy playing silly games to have a laugh or just have fun.
