Eyes on the Weekend (31-01)

In Eyes on the Weekend we share what our LifeisXbox team has been playing, most of the times we have our hands full with review games. Some of those have embargo’s so we can’t always openly share what we are playing. What is interesting for us is to see what YOU have been playing! Be sure to let us know on social media! 🙂

Dae Jim | Concerts are back up and running in Belgium so the coming weeks are full with live music! This weekend I saw a tribute band for Bob Dylan, in my opinion one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Also saw The Suicide Squad, and damn! This is one of the finest DC comic movies, James Gunn did an awesome job with this one. You just can’t talk about Xbox without mentioning Xbox Game Pass. With The Ascent and Omno, two fantastic games have been added. Ascent has some impressive visuals but it was Omno who surprised me the most. The atmosphere in this game is fantastic! Started Lost Planet 3 too, the idea was to play this before bedtime for half an hour. this eventually became three hours so needlessly to say I had a great time on the ice planet! Looking forward to play more but this week is pretty busy with concerts and work obligations.

Robby (BloodyGoodReviews) | I started the weekend by beating Omno, a serene adventure I started on release day and beat in only three sittings. The world is enchanting with breathtaking views and interesting fauna & flora to discover. It gradually introduces new traversal mechanics that all fit well into the world and only has minimal frustrations. It’s a fantastic title to 100% complete (and only takes around 4 hours to do so)Then I returned to The Last of Us, one of the games I had in my backlog since forever and that I finally decided to finish and I was not disappointed, this truly deserves all the awards it has received and I’ve only just started playing the sequel and it counts double for that, what a technological marvel and amazing story-telling. highly recommended.I accepted a new review: Papa’s Quiz, because I loved playing games like Jackbox Party Pack with my friends, the one with the quizzes in a scary hotel above all, but this game was nothing like that and missed any kind of visual appeal or fun factor. It was just bland quizzes hosted by a robotic and awkward voice. To be avoided. (Edit by Dae Jim: I actually loved Papa’s Quiz, here’s my review) Lastly, I played Beat Souls on PC, a new japanese indie rhythm game in which you have to move a character to the beat. It’s a bit heavy on the visual impulses and doesn’t have the best soundtrack, so it was kind of a letdown to be honest.

Alexis | This weekend I played the last of Bai Qu. What a boring VN game. Barely any interaction, and narration could have been better. Also the fact that the visuals thread the like between being soft porn and anime is kind of cheap and disgusting to pull gamers in. Then I started the Ascent, which really isn’t my thing… way too much red used as a base color, honestly. I continued space wolf, which has finally been patched, and is in a workable state! Oh, and saturday I bought a new boardgame, Architects of the western kingdoms, which is such an amazing boardgame!

Mika | I didn’t play a lot this weekend but my weekend was great nonetheless! After six months I could finally visit Xen again! So we worked in Xen’s (and a little bit my) new house and after that we watched Jungle Cruise, with The Rock! Loved that movie! Can absolutely recommend. Then on Sunday we played some League of legends together. First games were meh but when I got used to my settings on my pc there it was fun. I played Thresh/Blitz and Xen played Jhin/Ezreal. But he build Ezreal the mathematical correct way and jeez that does damage! He had most damage in the game by far! And after that, I sadly had to return home.

VicciVulpix | Barely played this weekend as my shoulder has been in pain and I also had my second Covid vaccine on Saturday which made me feel a little groggy. I only played a handful of games in SMITE where I played conquest, played support and had some questionable yet fun games.

Maui | I didn’t really game a lot this weekend since I was busy with other things, but I did manage to complete Button City, which is releasing on August 11th, stay tuned for a review this week! I also got started on Arkan: The Dog Adventurer, which isn’t really my kind of game, but still a fun game for those looking for a challenge!I also went to Futurist Games in Brussels to test out some VR games (Hyper DashPainting VR, Pollinator Park, Deisim, and Cubism), and I ended up enjoying them all, but unfortunately, I got very dizzy and nauseous from wearing a VR headset so I didn’t get to fully enjoy the games.

Xendacine | This weekend was great! Mikachu finally had the option to come to Belgium again! And what we did was we played a fair bit of League of Legends. Also spent a lot of time renovating the house actually. And we watched Jungle Cruise together.

Aaron | This weekend I decided to get stuck into a few games that have been demanding a playthrough.Hunt Showdown continues to be my go to game this weekend with the new map Deselle being a snipers dream. Each game I played brought me closer and closer to prestige level 50.I followed this up with some relaxing time in front of the Xbox Series S with Yakuza: Like a Dragon, an exceptional entry in the series in which they have taken the traditional arcade beat em up style and given it a turn based RPG feel. Finally on Sunday I decided to get my teeth stuck into some more of Cyberpunk 2077 with the latest update bringing more stability
so I can continue my journey throughout night city.
