Eyes on the Weekend (3-5 December)

In Eyes on the Weekend we share what our LifeisXbox team has been playing as most of the time we have our hands full with review games. Some of those have embargo’s so we can’t always openly share what we are playing. What is interesting for us is to see and hear about what YOU have been playing! Be sure to let us know on social media! 🙂

Robby (BloodyGoodReviews) | I told myself I’d focus on backlog instead of taking on new games to cover, but here we are…I started on Friday by beating Transient: Extended Edition. A sequel to Conarium, both HP Lovecraft inspired tales with supernatural, cosmic horror, but in this one, they added a Cyberpunk setting, which does make it a lot more interesting. Video: https://youtu.be/MFDvgHiF44U Then I played an indie game made by a Belgian solo dev: The Godbeast. As we were giving out codes through 1UP with the #1UPIndieSpotlight and asking people to talk about the game, so might as well contribute myself. I was happily surprised with this stylish souls like that even has quite a few Shadow of the Colossus inspirations. All while looking like a Suda51 title (Killer 7 comes to mind)Next up was Big Brain Academy on the Nintendo Switch. A game that supposedly makes you smarter by playing it every day. You can also face off against your friends or in my case: my wife and kids. Fun for a while, but I felt like I saw all it had to offer in a single day. On Sunday I finally booted up Century: Age of Ashes on PC. It’s free to play dragon-riding game that actually looks and plays great, but sadly my laptop couldn’t always keep up. Interesting to know for console players: it has cross-progression, so whatever you unlock now, you can benefit from in the 2022 console release. Video: https://youtu.be/KYyy6puZG-0

VicciVulpix | I played two games over the weekend: Encoyda and CODE VEIN. As I had completed my first playthrough of Encodya, I decided to return to obtain the remaining achievements for using no hints and completing the game in under four hours; I managed it in two so that’s another game checked off for me. I started CODE VEIN on Saturday and this may be the next game I spend a copious amount of time on. It took me three attempts to make a character I liked only to realise you can change your appearance after the first boss but I think I’m finally happy with my character. Definitely has Dark Souls in mind with its retrieval system but it looks absolutely incredible and with me not having any particular main game right now, I think I’ve found the answer to my problem.

Maui | I spent my weekend playing some more Pokémon Brilliant Diamond. Taking things slowly, and currently trying to figure out that goddamn ice gym! I also played some more Rob Riches on Saturday and published my review for it. Pretty cool puzzle game with some fitting challenges. Lastly, I spend the majority of my Sunday on Rune Factory 4 Special. This is a Story of Seasons spinoff series. This entry in the series was actually released way back in 2012 for the 3DS but the Special version is an enhanced edition that was released for Nintendo Switch and is coming to Xbox, PC, and PlayStation this week! Definitely super hooked on this game!

Michael |
This weekend I couldn’t play much since I had to work again on Saturday. But luckily for me, my Sunday was free so I managed to watch a Harry Potter movie with Maui while playing the new Pokémon games and some RuneScape 3. Next weekend I have nothing planned so I will be able to game more!

Colombo | Besides playing the usual Microsoft Solitaire Collection while listening to music, I started playing The Sinking City, which is a pretty interesting Lovecraftian game. Even though its combat doesn’t feel too great and its performance could be better, the atmosphere and mystery are pretty nice.

Bradley Delaere | On Saturday I’ve finished my playthrough of LEGO Batman 2. When I was younger, this was the first videogame I ever managed to get 100% on. Since it was free with Games with Gold, I decided to give it another try! I managed to get all of the achievements, well… almost all of them (I couldn’t get the co-op achievement). Sunday I gave Century: Age of Ashes a try. I think I have found a new game that I’ll be hooked on for the next few months – the gameplay’s unique and dragons, it has dragons, I adore those creatures! One issue that I have so far, is the camera controls. They’re a little difficult to handle, but I’ll get the hang of it sooner or later!
