Eyes on the Week(end) (11-13 February)

Time to look back on the weekend! What did Saturday and Sunday look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from last week and what are we looking forward to? These three questions will be answered in our Eyes on the Week(end) article!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

I have to start by speaking about the game It Takes Two which I’m sure many people have heard of. Incredibly well made and a pleasure to play, I would highly recommend this to pretty much anyone because otherwise, I think you’re missing out. Played this with Lewis and I couldn’t have had more fun. On Saturday, some family members came round and myself, my nephew, and my niece played Among Us, Banjo Kazooie, and Minecraft Dungeons which was great fun as we passed the controller between us. Played a few games of SMITE and tried making some progress in Contrast also. Sunday was a fun-filled day of playing Among Us and Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes with Lewis also and bruh, is Among Us fun when you play with somebody because you can protect one another and discuss the imposters together with plenty of laughter the entire time. House of Ashes is a game I hadn’t played before and as I love horror titles, especially ones with multiple endings and where your choices affect who lives and dies, it definitely ticked all the right boxes. Can’t say I didn’t have a busy and thoroughly enjoyable weekend though.

Most exciting news of last week: A possibility to see Until Dawn being remade is definitely something that caught my eye and is something I will be keeping a close eye on.

Looking forward to playing this week: Among Us, Resident Evil 5, Dark Pictures Anthology, SMITE, Dead by Daylight

I had my Valentine’s weekend so I didn’t play anything. Instead, we visited Liege for some romantic stuff. Next weekend I have some time to catch up with Xbox games!

Most exciting news: Nintendo Direct had a lot of good news for Xbox, with Loop9 – SD Gundam – Klonoa and Chrono Cross coming for the green console. Looking forward to playing Wii Sports on Switch too!

Looking forward to playing: Continuing with Edge of Eternity and whatever comes on XGP.

I did not have the most exciting weekend game-wise, I’m afraid! I did manage to get in some time in Ocean’s Heart, a Zelda-inspired action RPG that I’m really digging! My review is due this week so you’ll see my thoughts on the game appear on your screen shortly! I can already tell you that it’s going to be a positive one! Furthermore, I started the game Lost Island but so far I’m really, really, really not liking it. The English is horrible, the graphics are below average, there are only two/three quests, and honestly, I haven’t found a single thing I like about this one yet. Here’s to hoping for more fun gameplay when I continue playing this one this week. I also played some Rugby 22 with Michael as he’s reviewing this but I do not know this sport at all and I completely sucked and hated the game. I mean, it’s not a bad game but I was completely lost and this really isn’t my cup of tea.

Most exciting news of last week: The announcement of the mobile game Harry Potter: Magic Awakened because I’m a huge Potterhead. I played the Hogwarts Mystery game a little but wasn’t completely sold on it so I’m having average hopes for this next one. Although, it looks like a cool game so I’m secretly very excited!

Looking forward to playing this week: Ocean’s Heart for sure, and getting started on another game I’m reviewing called Egglia: Rebirth because this also looks really cool!

Busy weekend for me, I played some OlliOlli World and recorded my gameplay for YouTube. Really fun game, but it was hard to get the hang of the jump at first. Seems like Jim was a big fan as well as he rated it very high in his review. Then I started the Belgian game Ghost on the Shore, an adventure in which a ghost hitches a ride in your body to uncover the mysteries of the island you’ve been stranded on. The review will be coming soon! Next, I played Submerged: Hidden Depths, a sequel to an indie title in which you have to restore a flooded city and save it from being covered by a menacing growth. You can expect the preview on the 17th! Lastly, I played The King of Fighters XV a whole lot for the upcoming review. It’s a great-looking fighter and I even tested the multiplayer against a friend. You can check the full review HERE.

Most exciting news of last week: The Nintendo Direct made the remaster of Chrono Cross official. I’ve been waiting for this news since the Nvidia leak.

Looking forward to playing this week: I’m hoping the review code for Elden Ring arrives this week, as it’s a title I’ll be spending dozens of hours with!

Michael

I hadn’t much time to play this weekend because of work… Luckily I managed to play some Rugby 2022 on Sunday with Maui and I played some Pokémon Legends Arceus but then the weekend was already over.

Most exciting news of last week: must be that there is coming to a DLC for Mario Kart 8!

Looking forward to playing this week: Pokémon Legends Arceus, its time to finish the game. Furthermore, I’ve nothing really planned.

I’ve spent most of my weekend playing Far Cry 4. I’m trying to achieve all of the achievements in the game and was a little worried that I wouldn’t be able to get the multiplayer achievements since this game is about  8 years old. And as luck would have it, I was able to find a group of people whose goal was to get these achievements as well!

Most exciting news of last week: That would be the incredible Nintendo Direct that we got! So many exciting announcements were made! A few of my favourites are the Portal games that are coming to the handheld, finally a new game in the Nintendo Sports series, and the 48 new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe courses! Honestly, I would’ve preferred a Mario Kart 9 at this point, but I guess that’s fine!

Looking forward to playing this week: I’ll probably get the last few achievements in Far Cry 4, and maybe, just maybe, go for the in-game 100%. I’ve also ordered about 20+ physical Xbox One games for just 30€ in a super good condition with some decent titles in it; Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, Far Cry: Primal, CoD Black ops 3, Halo 5, and so on… If I get them this week, I’ll probably get started with Assassin’s Creed: Black flag, I love that game!

Played some Microsoft Solitaire Collection while listening to music, to be more specific this time around, I listened to Harry Styles and Bastille. Also played Yakuza Like A Dragon again, which I still haven’t finished because I focused a bit much on secondary quests. Played two hours of The Medium through the cloud, since it’s leaving Xbox Games Pass soon, but I gave up out of frustration with both an escape and a stealth section that were back to back.

Most exciting news of last week: I don’t play all CODs, but since I enjoyed COD MW, COD MW2 being officially confirmed was pretty nice.

Looking forward to playing this week: Still Yakuza Like A Dragon, maybe I’ll finally finish it this week.

I did very little gaming last weekend, instead opting to go watch anime movies in theatres. It’s rare that they get played on the silver screen, so I felt it my sworn duty as an anime fan to go watch them.I saw Belle (Ryū to Sobakasu no Hime) on friday. Directed by Mamoru Hosoda who is also known for films like “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time”, “Summer Wars”, “Wolf Children” and others. I won’t talk too much about the plot, but as the name suggests it’s a bit of a take on Belle and the Beast but in Mamoru’s signature style. Next to that I also went all the way to Antwerp to see My Hero Academia – World Heroes Mission. A good bit of action with the cast you know from the show. While it’s a solid recommendation for fans of the show and newcomers alike, I like the previous movie, Heroes Rising, better. Enough about movies now, I still played some games as well. I began actively shiny hunting in Pokémon Legends Arceus and caught 2 shinies. One Chansey, sporting a yellowish-green colour, and yellow orange-ish Shinx. I was hunting for a Piplup as well, but after a good 70+ resets, I decided to drop that hunt for now. Saturday evening also a saw some rounds of Witch It with friends. Witch It takes the prop hunt formula from places like Garry’s Mod and fleshes it out to a full-fledged game. Great party game for bigger groups. Lastly, I also played more Monster Hunter Rise on PC, where I wrapped up the story with the friend with whom I started playing. Now it’s straight on to Hunter Rank 100 for a chance to best Crimson Glow Valstrax and build weapons and armor until Kamura runs out of people to hold them.

Most exciting news: That’s got to be the Nintendo Direct, with the reveal of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 topping it off. I should probably find the time to finish Xenoblade Chronicles 2, its DLC and Xenoblade Chronicles remastered.

Looking forward to playing: More Pokémon Legends Arceus honestly. Maybe I’ll dip my toes in some Lemnis Gate, as I’ve been eyeing that for a while now.
