In Eyes on the Weekend we share what our LifeisXbox team has been playing, most of the time we have our hands full with review games. Some of those have embargos so we can’t always openly share what we are playing. What is interesting for us is to see what YOU have been playing! Be sure to let us know on social media! 🙂
Dae Jim | Our commander-in-chief is off on holiday in Greece. We wish him a great time off and hope he still gets to game a bit and tell us all about it upon his return.
Robby (BloodyGoodReviews) | I fell in love with Psychonauts 2. It’s such a great game with funny writing, interesting characters and I was so amazed to see an honest-to-god music video as a reward for beating the Feast of Senses level. This game is rapidly making its way up in my GOTY list.
I started the weekend by completing The Artful Escape. It’s on Xbox Game Pass and pretty much a must-play as far as I am concerned. It’s got AMAZING visuals, interesting audio design and actually decent writing. It calls itself a platformer but it’s more like a narrative adventure around self-discovery and music.
On Saturday evening I started playing Life Is Strange – True Colours. And while I’m only about an hour in, at the time of writing, I can already tell it’s going to be a very special game. Be sure to check Jim’s Review for more reasons on why you should play this. After all, he gave it 100%!!
Mika | Because I’m having some personal problems at work and at home that kinda floods my head I wanted to just chill this weekend. So I didn’t play anything really and just watched The Expanse with my boyfriend. If you like sci-fi I can really recommend it. It’s A LOT of info in the first episodes because they need to explain so much of the story, so it was hard to binge for me. But now we are at season 2 and it’s way easier to understand and I think I can say that shit hit the fan and I love it.
VicciVulpix | On Saturday, I played Castle of no Escape as I had one more achievement to get for the full completion, which I did manage to achieve. Played two games of SMITE which were nothing to write home about. Didn’t get up to much this weekend as I went to pick my mum up from Colchester as she had been to my brother’s for the week. However, it certainly looks like I have a productive week ahead (If I can even manage it!)
Maui | I spent most of my weekend playing Serin Fate, a new game for PC. It’s like Stardew Valley but with magic. Reminds me a little of Pokémon at times, and even though it’s not an easy game, it’s so much fun! For the rest of the weekend, I turned to my Xbox and continued my adventures in Rustler, or as some call it: Grand Theft Horse. Yes, this is GTA set in medieval times. It’s a fun game all in all, but not too convincing honestly. If you’re curious about this one, my review is coming up near the end of the week! I also started playing Ravva and the Cyclops Curse, which is a really cool platformer, but of course, I really suck at it, so I’m going to give it another try sometime this week.
Michael | I managed to complete the main campaign of Marvel’s Avengers, sad thing here is that there still are achievement bugs. I also played some Cookie Clicker, be sure to check my review!
Thomas | I was in a pretty one-track mindset this weekend. I say pretty since I actually played only 2 games this weekend. With a lion’s share of my time I set off to the Hoarfrost Reach in Monster Hunter World Iceborne. Together with my buddy who recently bought the game we’ve been tackling the endgame of High Rank and the early monsters of Master Rank. We’re also getting used to fighting with the new weapons we picked up. Charge Blade for the both of us, and Gunlance for him. I’m looking forward to what the future holds.
Besides that, I also picked up Genshin Impact again. I did some story quests with the CEO of GEO, Zhongli himself. The story content in Genshin Impact is pretty cool, just a shame it’s locked behind ever-increasing level restrictions.
Aaron | Friday night I started by playing some No more heroes 3, a great franchise that I am super excited has returned after only 10 years of waiting. The combat and pop culture references are so funny & Travis is such a great character!
Saturday I decided to play some old Playstation 2 games such as The Matrix Path of Neo & Enter the Matrix since the 4th one now has a trailer & I’m feeling super Nostalgic. Looking back at these two games specifically they haven’t aged well but they are cannon to the matrix story so if you are a fan, you have to play them.
Finally on Sunday I started my gaming with some Silent Hill 4 The Room (for research) and forgot how weird & different this one was compared to the others in the series. Silent Hill 4 has some really great tension building such as gradually removing your safe space which takes the form of your apartment. The further through the game you get, the more haunted & decrepit it becomes.
Robby lives and breathes video games. When he’s not playing them, he’s talking about them on social media or convincing other people to pick up a controller themselves. He’s online so often, he could practically list the internet as his legal domicile. Belgian games-industry know-it-all.
