Eyes on the Week (4th – 8th November)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

I’ll admit, this week my mood has been on the rather low side but I do believe this may be down to possible SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and massive FOMO of TCG Card Shop Simulator (I’ve been non-stop watching various Twitch/YouTube videos all week using different mods!)

To relax, I have continued my employment on Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator and have been driving fares around. I’m trying my best to get perfect rides but sticking within the speed limit and supposedly going against the flow of traffic are my worst traits. I’ve been driving on the right side but the game seems to frequently misidentify this. Getting the achievements will just come with gameplay but the levelling and experience? I think this needs to be readjusted.

I also ventured through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and stumbled upon Pentiment. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first but as I love my visual novels, although this is not one, having an interesting story to follow with plenty of dialogue to read has me hooked already. I’ve completed Act I but there are still two more I will be working on over the weekend.

In other news, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has me obsessed! Every 12 hours, you best believe I’m opening a new pack and praying for some new shiny cards! I’m not ready to dive into the versus but I have been completing the solo AI battles to get the rewards. I just want to complete my Card Dex!

Most interesting news of this week: Death Stranding was shadow dropped onto Xbox earlier this week, in case anybody missed it!

Looking forward to playing: A whole host of games to get the Genre Bingo and monthly medal on TrueAchievements!

Let’s see… games played this week include:

Aaero2 | finally got the Level 100 Achievement, but the Master levels remain locked to me because well… I’m not a master at the game.

Slay the Princess – The Pristine Cut | Just getting through all of the endings, and while the game is brilliant, just grinding away at seeing all of it feels tiring now.

Farewell North | After some cat games, now I get to play a dog game. It’s really charming, but the controls are a little frustrating and I’m missing an easier way to see where I missed collectable and backtracking is a pain. Still had some lovely moments and will keep playing it!

Life is Strange: Double Exposure | I only just started the game but Chapter 1 already managed to impress. the music selection is wonderful as always. Curious to see the powers Max will get as I’ve remained spoiler-free so far! [Check Chapter 1 here]

Most interesting news of this week: A criminal racist sex offender bully became the president (again) as the USA and I weep for our entire world.

Looking forward to playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership!

I’m still playing Persona 3 Reload and Call of Duty Black Ops 6‘s multiplayer, both are still pretty fun to play.

Most interesting news of this week: Death Stranding Director’s Cut releasing on Xbox.

Looking forward to playing: More Persona 3 Reload and COD BO6.

I played some House Flipper, still one DLC to go but it was nice to get back into the game! I did go through it more hastily than when I played it for the first time, but it is such a great game. I was able to relive a bit of my childhood dream of becoming a house stylist while playing this game.

Also played through a bit of Pako Caravan, snake with a twist! It is a lot of fun, but man it is so challenging!

Another game I played this week was Monarchy. This feels so much like the kingdom series, even the costs are the same amount. There are some differences but I’m not sure the differences are big enough to play this over Kingdom Two Crown or Kingdom 80s. I prefer the Kingdom series over this.

Many hours this week went into TCG Card Shop Simulator. What a great and addictive game! So much fun to open up your own TCG shop and collecting cards yourself. However the last few achievements are grindy… and it even feels like the word “grindy” is an understatement.

And last but not least, I played Supurr Cat Cafe: Sandwich Rush which will release this upcoming Monday. A great little game in which you catch the right items that fall down and avoid the wrong ones while serving customers sandwiches.

Most interesting news of this week: Death Stranding releasing on Xbox.

Looking forward to playing: Calcium Chaos: Derailed.

This week I’ve been enjoying more Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 campaign and multiplayer. Aaero2 co-op is also still on my rotation, which is so much fun tackling the advanced difficulty tracks.

I’ve also been playing Goat Simulator: Remastered, which is just crazy fun and great to mess around on. This just released on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

I completed this game called Trash is fun, which is a game similar to Speed Crew which I reviewed early this year. Trash is fun has you recycle trash while at the same time keeping zombies at bay, before they destroy the recycling warehouse.

Most interesting news of this week: After rumours surfaced a few years ago, it’s now been confirmed that Mass Effect is officially getting a TV adaptation at Amazon.

Looking forward to playing: I’m looking forward to finishing the Black Ops 6 campaign and then starting Death Stranding: Directors Cut.

Hello Everyone, I apologise for my absence recently, I had a bit of a mishap with a pizza straight out of the oven and ended up with second-degree burns on my dominant hand. But onto better things! 🙂

I have been playing a few games this week including The Bridge Curse 2, Creepy Tale: Some Other Place, revisiting Outlast on the Steam Deck and playing Ascending Inferno which I will have a review out for very soon. I’m really enjoying playing games on the Steam Deck as well as on my trusty Xbox Series X. I kinda wish there was a way to access my Xbox games on my Steam Deck… Well, perhaps one day. Anyway, the moral of this week is don’t make pizza when you feel a bit dizzy.

Most interesting news of this week: Sega are going to be delisting a lot of the classic titles from multiple systems including the Sega Megadrive/Genesis Classics collection, so if you don’t have it grab it quick!

Looking forward to playing: Hopefully continuing on with some classic horror games.
