Eyes on the Week (22nd – 26th May)

Time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

I’ve been all over the place this week if I’m being completely transparent but that didn’t stop me from playing some video games to take my mind off things. Firstly, I continued with my playthrough of Saga of Sins. I’m still sitting on the fence with this one but I will share my thoughts in my next review soon. Again, I’m sorry for the delay – sometimes life just takes over.

Secondly, I have finally finished my entire playthrough of The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series and damn, what a story it was. Clementine has my heart forever and a day. I’m happy I’ve completed the series and finally can piece everything together but sad that it’s over at the same time.

Finally, I got a handful of games on SMITE into my week. One arena (Yemoja), slash (Nu Wa) and assault (Chaac) were all fun. Even my teammates were being kind, unlike the usual toxic behaviour I’m used to encountering. Also, with the new Vshojo collaboration, I’ve found some new skins I adore and streamers to watch on Twitch.

Me and Lewis have also been playing through Oxide Room 104 and Fobia: St. Dinfna Hotel together and have watched Sinister, Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter: The Half-Blood Prince, and Suicide Squad.

Most exciting news of this week: TrueAchievements have released details for their June medals. Also, the changes Microsoft have implemented to target easy games and gamerscore feels like a step in the right direction to prevent shovelware from being placed in the store for purchase.

Looking forward to playing: More Saga of Sins and hopefully my other review games before Diablo IV takes over my entire existence.

Fever, headache and nauseous so keeping it short for this week. Xbox had a great week with fine Game Pass releases and Planet of Lana. The multitude of announced Xbox games during the PlayStation showcase was remarkable too!

Most exciting news of this week: Nothing to report this week.

Looking forward to playing: Nothing to report this week.

Played quite a bit of indies this week, diving back into Planet of Lana every day to get my daily achievement for the hidden shrines I missed. Check my review HERE

And because I got a code to review Road 96: Mile 0, I’m playing the original. It was in my backlog for the longest time.

Yesterday, I went to Plopsa with the wife and kids, which was long overdue: finally a day to ourselves without needing to worry about work. The Tomorrowland Rollercoaster especially was quite the ride!

Most exciting news of this week: Big Brotaru took place on Thursday evening and it was the biggest turn-out we’ve gotten in years, with 370+ Belgian devs and game supporters. You can check my Twitter thread to discover them.

Looking forward to playing: After Us, the next game from the devs who made Arise: A Simple Tale, a game I really enjoyed last year.

This week I finished up a couple of review games, with one of them you can read right now – Urbek City Builder.

Other than these I have been playing a little of the beta for Texas Chainsaw Massacre which is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game. It’s really fun and the sound design is some of the best I’ve ever heard. Currently, it is only open to invite only if you were lucky enough if you registered, but it should be opening up publicly soon.

I also played the Prologue to Alone in the Dark, the revival of the franchise that now stars David Harbour as Edward Carnby. The game doesn’t release until October 25th but the opening prologue really sets an unusual scene. Not a lot to go on right now as the Prologue is only about 10 minutes, but I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the full game.

Most exciting news of this week: uhhhh Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater Remake, of course!!!

Looking forward to playing: Literally anything as it will be half-term here so the kids are off. My gaming time was already thin.

First things first, I’m getting entertainment out of video games again! I started playing LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, and at first, I thought it was weird since it had significant changes from the old LEGO videogames formula, but it grew on me.

Most exciting news of this week: I’d say that Alan Wake II and Assassin’s Creed Mirage new trailers along with Metal Gear Snake Eater remake reveal were the most significant news this week.

Looking forward to playing: Will try to finish Unheard Voices of Crime Edition and write its review in the next few days. Will probably play more LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga after I rewatch episodes 1 and 2.

It’s been a busy week for me when it comes to games. Spread throughout the week I played more Honkai Star Rail where I sealed the Stellaron that was plaguing Jarilo VI. The story has been excellent so far, and I’m really enjoying my time with it. I’ve also started looking at what I need and how to upgrade the gear my team has. This is where the real grind begins. Luckily I already had a couple of best-in-slot pieces to start from, so there’s that.

Furthermore, I spent a lot of time playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I’m at the point where I unlocked four sages and went back to Hyrule Castle. It’s been such a great experience so far that I hardly know what to talk about first. I’ve unlocked the entire map that can be found above ground, and am making increasingly longer forrays into the depths for Zoanite and armor pieces. It’s such a great location to explore and light up bit by bit.

Some friends and I also got the Skyrim Together Reborn mod working. It’s all kinds of jank, but far above all, it’s a lot of fun. We opted to take some extra mods like immersive armors and weapons, Apocalypse magic, TrueHUD and SkyUI to further enhance our experience. So far we took down the first dragon together (with an additional 43 guards) and set out to answer the Greybeards summons at High Hrothgar.

Most exciting news of this week:  It was Big Brotaru on Thursday 25/05 and I got to see a lot of great upcoming Belgian indie games such as Helix, Wake Up, Laserdance and Hijack Overdrive. That last one was released yesterday, so go check it out!

Looking forward to playing:

I have played a lot of Everdream Valley earlier on this week. A cutsie farming sim that I enjoy a lot and will release soon.

I also played Planet of Lana, what a beautiful game, but that one achievement for not dying in the whole game sucks!

And last but not least I played and finished Void Scrapper, a cool bullet heaven game.

Most exciting news of this week: That Metal Gear Solid 3 is getting a remake, but I hoped for MGS1, as I have beaten that game so many times when I was a child.

Looking forward to playing: I’ll be playing more Everdream Valley this weekend and hopefully complete it before the release also Hello Goodboy is in the program.
