Eyes on the Week (21st-25th October)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

Thankfully I realised Frog Detective: The Entire Mystery was leaving Xbox Games Pass at the end of the month before it was too late so I jumped on and got the easy completion. It was an experience, to say the least, and is far from the peak of indie gaming. It’s cute in its own way but not all that great otherwise.

I also finally decided to get stuck into SCHiM – a unique platformer that has me addicted and saying “just one more level” to myself. As this will be reviewed by me, I won’t go into too many details but safe to say, that it has shown quirky charm and some elements I’m not fond of within the time I’ve played so far.

I also played Hidden Cats in Berlin as it was the next in line if I follow the series as they’re released. As I said last week, I’m not a fan of the final hidden kittens level but I just can’t resist finding all those mischievous little cats! Also developers: Please make all the special cats a real cat portrait! I’m sure you’ve been inundated with humans sending you pictures of their precious kitties.

Finally, I returned to the Gears of War 3 campaign to finish up the TrueAchievement medal I still hadn’t achieved for October.

Most interesting news of this week: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has landed! Otherwise, not much to tell.

Looking forward to playing: SCHiM and Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator.

I played a few games this week! I continued playing Neva, hoping to have it beaten by the weekend and will have a review up for it. It’s a really gorgeous title, sad I have to play it at times when I am already very sleepy. but this will be a game people remember in years to come, I like it even more than GRIS.

I also kept playing Aaero2, duh. It’s my favourite game right now, and I’m enjoying the PvP with my 5-year-old son. It’s really nice that you can’t die, so he never gets frustrated even though he can’t get a high score.

I also started Slay the Princess – the Pristine Cut. I’ve been sitting on playing that for quite some time and the console release is the perfect excuse. you can check one playthrough here.

Most interesting news of this week: Well now I’m SURE the Belgian Game Awards results are out. I had an amazing time at the awards show. You can view it here for now, and soon on youtube. The surprise was that we had Lieven Scheire present it!!

Looking forward to playing: I’ll play a beta for Wait What’s That in VR soon, a Pictionary-like game that I’m excited about.

This week I’ve been playing lots of Aaero2. I’m still 15 stars away from unlocking Master difficulty tracks, but slowly making progress and having a blast doing so. I did start Pumpkin Jack, but I’m going to finish Kena: Bridge of Spirits before I go back and finish playing that. I completed Donut County, a fun a quirky game that’s available again on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Most interesting news of this week: A new free update for Dead Island 2 delivers two essential zombie slaying modes: A savage New Game Plus experience and a strategic horde mode with a tower defence twist.  This new free update is available now. Dead Island 2 is currently available to play via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Don’t have Game Pass Ultimate? Then you can now play a new free trial that has just been added.

Looking forward to playing: More Aaero2, Kena: Bridge of Spirits and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 campaign. I’ll probably give the multiplayer a go too. If I have time I want to try out Under The Waves, which is included in the current week’s selection of Free to Play games on Xbox.
