Eyes on the Week (19th-23rd December)

Time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

As the weekend approaches, I would like to wish everyone who celebrates the occasion a very Merry Christmas; wishing you all the festive cheer and hoping you’ll let us know what gaming gifts you receive! As I’ve been unwell with Stomach Flu over the past week, I’ve been watching Lewis play various games on Twitch due to not feeling up to playing much. On Wednesday, I went back to finish up any remaining achievements in Last Days of Lazarus which didn’t take too long; there is 2000G available for anyone who may be interested. Otherwise, I played a handful of games on Dead by Daylight when I was feeling more like myself. One game in particular with a hag was rather amusing as we played ‘spin the survivor’ or ‘survivor roulette’ to see who got hooked. Otherwise, just generally getting ready for the weekend.

Most exciting news of this week: I can’t recollect any gaming news which caught my attention last week as I seem to have only been reading many good things about the recent addition to Xbox Games Pass, High on Life. Might give this a go over Christmas.

Looking forward to playing: I have no plans right now, to be honest. I still have some reviews to write up before the end of the year so I’ll get around to those when I’m feeling more like myself. I’m sure Dead by Daylight will creep us as per usual though.

I was able to beat Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion last night and you can check my review to see how I feel about it, but long story short: it’s a perfect remaster. Same game, but polished where needed in both visuals as well as gameplay.

Other than that, I continued a bit with Pokémon Violet, but I don’t game on the Switch as often anymore since I no longer have to take a train to work.

Oh yeah, me and Thomas got to play Hubris at the Cyborn offices. Made it about 2/3rds through the game and can honestly say it’s the most visually impressive VR title I’ve ever played. Certainly a Belgian game to keep your eyes on if you own a VR headset!

Most exciting news of this week: High on Life being 2022’s biggest Game Pass launch. Nice surprise!

Looking forward to playing: I’ll clean up on the 100% in Crisis Core and might continue in Marvel’s Midnight Suns.

Merry Christmas & happy holidays to everyone reading! This week I’ve been finishing up High On Life. An unexpectedly good shooter with a great sense of humour on current trends. I am a huge Rick & Morty fan so I knew going in this would have some great comedic moments.

Other than this, I have also started a game called Lost Ark which is an online MMORPG. It’s free to play & free to download from steam, so there really was no reason to say no. I’ve only finished the prologue so far but what I’ve seen is pretty decent.

Most exciting news of this week: The Duke Nukem fan restoration project is now out for free & is a complete rebuild of the game.

Looking forward to playing: Whatever I get from under the Christmas Tree!

This week I, unfortunately, burned three of my left-hand fingers on Tuesday thanks to my own neglect on my job, meaning I stayed home the rest of the week. It’s also a bit harder to play thanks to this, but I’ve managed to start Persona 5 Royal and also played a tiny bit of Chivalry II for another Microsoft Rewards challenge.

Most exciting news of this week: I don’t recall any big gaming news happening this week, I guess the Countdown sale on Xbox is noteworthy.

Looking forward to playing: More Persona 5, possibly more review games, and if I manage to overcome a bug, I’ll get back to GTA IV DLCs.

Seasons greetings, dear readers. As we trade last week’s winter cold for autumn’s I’ve ventured out for some more VR gaming this week. On Tuesday, Robby and I were invited to Cyborn in Antwerp to play as much Hubris VR as we wanted. I got to show off my VR legs and made it about halfway through the game in my 6 hours there. I took home a code to continue my adventure into the new year. I’ll be sure to tell you all about it then in great detail.

Besides that, I mainly played more Final Fantasy XIV, as well as finished Hello Neighbor 2. My review for that will be online soon, so look forward to that.

Most exciting news of this week: At the time of writing we’re 4 minutes away from the Steam Winter Sale. Gabe is already hammering on my door for his yearly tribute. I hope I get off lightly this year.

Looking forward to playing: While I’m keeping Hubris for that post-Christmas lull I’ll dust off my hammer & sword and shield to see what’s new in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak.

Merry Christmas to all fellow writers and readers alike. This week has been minimal for gaming time as still recovering from my broken wrist. But I have purchased Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core ready for my pot coming off. And I’ve played a little bit of Vampire Survivors.

Most exciting news of this week: no news I can think of yet but I hope for a resolution to the Square Enix/Microsoft dispute so they can release the new FF titles.

Looking forward to playing: FF7 Crisis Core Remake.

I started this week off with the new DLC for Vampire Survivors. It was very nice to be able to play this on my Steam Deck while laying in bed. This game is so addictive!

Another game in the same genre that I played this week was Nordic Ashes, it just released and is still a bit rough and in early access. I’m glad to see that the devs released a patch to make the game a bit easier because it was quite hard. Vampire Survivor is more addictive and lets you feel overpowered but I’m quite hooked on Nordic Ashes as well.

I also played a bit of Potion Craft, on paper this should totally be my game, and watching others play it is with also looks that way, but I’m not sure yet. I feel like a total failure while playing it.

And last but not least, I finally started Cult of the Lamb, what an addictive awesome game! I’m quite close to the end even when starting it only 2 days ago, I just can’t stop playing!

Most exciting news of this week: It’s almost the end of the year, the last 3 months of the year and the first month are so busy at my work, I’m counting down the weeks till the end of January, but we almost reached the peak with Christmas around the corner, from there it gets already a little bit less busy.

Looking forward to playing: Finishing Cult of the Lamb, I’m also trying to squeeze in a bit more indie games that should be right up my alley for a list with my top indie games of 2022 I’m working on. Debating if I will be able to start and finish Potion Permit or Chained Echoes before that.
