Eyes on the Week (17th-21st March)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

Along with many others, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been my main game this week. After releasing on Thursday, it’s been great seeing all the praise it has been recieving. So far, I have had a brilliant time with a few minor issues but I’ll save all my main thoughts for my review. It is in progress and should be published soon so keep an eye out for that.

Me and Lewis have continued our evening Overwatch 2 sessions. As per usual, the games are mixed. I’ve enjoyed a little more Zenyatta recently but mostly stick to Illari, Moira, and Ana for support. I’ve played more tank recently with Orisa and Reinhardt being the main choices, and when it comes to the odd DPS game, I’ve been picking Mei and Bastion.

For my chill game this week, I started Cats and Seek: Osaka and completed the three main levels. I managed the speedrun for the first level but I still have to speedrun the second and third under four minutes which hasn’t been as relaxing but I’m sure I’ll get there eventually.

Most interesting news of this week: Assassin’s Creed Shadows was released on Thursday and the scores/reviews for it are looking great. My review will be ready soon!

Looking forward to playing: More Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Overwatch 2 and Grimoire Groves at the very least.

I actually had a bit of gaming time in the past week, crazy right?

I finally completed High on Knife, the DLC for High on Life and it was a lot of fun with some hilarious moments as expected. I didn’t bother to go for 100% achievements though as it seemed like too much of a grind.

Then I got sick (still am) and had a headache that kept me from enjoying games, but I did binge almost two seasons of Castlevania Nocturne on Netflix. it’s soooooo good. the animation is top-notch and I really like the story and characters.

Also, on Tuesday, a code for Assassin’s Creed Shadows fell into my lap so I immediately started playing. Only the opening hour so far but that was already great with a story told from two perspectives and an action-heavy tutorial that had so many decapitations, I lost track. You can watch the opening hour [HERE] and can look forward to Victoria reviewing it for LifeisXbox soon (it’s a huge game! so it might take a while)

Finally, on Xbox, I played the Adventures of a Cat In Space demo, a musical point-and-click catventure with a title song that’ll be stuck in my brain all week. You can see my demo playthrough [HERE].

Most interesting news of this week: I got to announce the release date for Ruffy and the Riverside on the official PlayStation YouTube channel and I’m working on a Bloober Team announcement next!

Looking forward to playing: Assassin’s Creed Shadows!!

I’m still very slowly playing through Persona 3 Reload‘s DLC: Episode Aigis – The Answer. I decided to change the difficulty to peaceful just so I can get through it as quickly as possible, but I’m not playing it too often.

I’m also still playing Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express, it’s been a pretty interesting game, and I’m fairly certain I’ll finish it in the next few days.

I played a bit more of Monster Train, which I always come back to, and a few other games for an Xbox Game Pass quest again like BrotatoStarbound, and Vampire Survivors.

Most interesting news of this week: I can’t remember anything worth mentioning happening this week.

Looking forward to playing: More Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis – The Answer, Monster Train, and Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express.

I haven’t played many games this week as I was on a lot of pain meds. So I was mostly trying to play simple games that didn’t require my brain to function.

I started off with a bit of Mudborne. I love the looks of it but there was a lot of tutorial going on, too much for my brain right now, but I like what I saw so far!

After that I started with Top Sellers – Ecommerce Simulator. which is grindy as hell but I love that the numbers go up and your business grows. It was the perfect fit for my current state, but I can see people getting turned off by how grindy and repetitive it is.

Last but not least, I’m playing Wake Cup, a tower defense game in which you throw coffee at people to wake them up. Working on the last challenge.

Most interesting news of this week: My favorite game show, Wholesome Games, was gathering entries for their show this summer and they got over 1,000 entries a day before their submitting form closed. I wish the Wholesome Games team good luck with getting through all those and I’m sure they will find many gems in that pile.

Looking forward to playing: Finishing the last challenge in Wake Cup and after that will try to jump back into Mudborne.

I was away for a long weekend last week with family down in Devon, so I haven’t had as much gaming time as usual. This week, I’ve been playing Morkull: Ragast’s Rage, a side-scrolling 2D platformer with some action and exploration elements.

I also played and completed a newly released game called ASMR Slicing, a relaxing game that started out fun and interesting. Basically, you have to cut slices off various objects made from kinetic sand and complete basic objectives, such as cutting slices onto a moving plate or dividing the object evenly. I was able to complete all the objectives in under an hour.

I have also played a little more of Avowed, completed a few more quests, and killed lots of giant spiders.

Most interesting news of this week: Nightdive’s long-awaited System Shock 2 remaster finally arrives on June 26th on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC.

Looking forward to playing: Mullet Madjack, Avowed and checking out Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

I’ve been enjoying Trash Goblin again this week and also the absolutley hilarious Thank Goodness You’re Here! which half way through I realised had Matt Berry doing voices in. I honestly don’t know what to say other than go play it! Going Back to Trash Goblin though, if you enjoy a nice wee chill game where the only thing rushing you is your desire to get more shiny trinkets, then I can heartily recommend getting it while it’s on sale on Steam.

Most interesting news of this week: Silent Hill F is actually happening! after speculation it was cancelled a while back, I cannot wait to check it out!

Looking forward to playing: Assassins Creed Shadows, Suikoden I and II Remastered and whatever I can get my hands on.
