Eyes on the Week (14th-18th October)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

I started by wrapping up everything in The Casting of Frank Stone – “And that’s a picture wrap on Murder Mill! Wait a go everybody” Yep, I’ve been waiting to use that quote. A handful of the scenes were a little tricky to grasp and work out how to reach them but I completed everything. Overall, it’s not my favourite Supermassive game – that title still goes to Until Dawn – but it’s still good. I’m disappointed that no decisions let you hide in lockers!

I’ve continued my new game D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die which I admittedly started because of the medals on TrueAchievements. So far, it’s not quite been what I expected. I intend to make my way through the entire game though and I’ll see what’s left to do once I have finished the story.

I also played Hidden Cats in Rome. I have to say I’m not a huge fan of the last level the developers have started to include in the hidden kittens levels but otherwise, I think they’re doing a great job with these games and are committed to a well-needed cause.

Most interesting news of this week: Phasmophobia finally has a release date and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Looking forward to playing: D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die, Overwatch 2, Dead by Daylight, and perhaps Age of Mythology: Retold.

I’m also still hooked on Aaero2! But I hate how easy everyone makes it seem while I can’t even unlock the Master difficulty…

We’re in full swing with the Belgian Game Awards, so I didn’t get a ton of gaming in, but I did get started with Neva and it’s even better than GRIS. I won’t spoil too much here, just trust me that it’s good. or if you REALLY want to watch it in action, check my video of the opening chapters [HERE]

Most interesting news of this week: The Belgian Game Awards took place on the 18th of October, depending on when you read this, the results are already out and you can discover them on awards.belgiangames.be

Looking forward to playing: I’d really like to get started with the new Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, but I don’t know where I’ll find the time 😔

I’m still playing We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie and enjoying it. I also started playing Persona 3 Reload which has been good so far, I’m still with less than 10 hours in so, it’ll take quite a while to finish it.

Most interesting news of this week: New horror IP from Bloober Team being announced at the Xbox partner showcase alongside other interesting announcements.

Looking forward to playing: More Persona 3 Reload and We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal.

Missi

I had the flu at the beginning of this week, which resulted in having almost no energy and already struggling with keeping up with my work. So I haven’t played much this week.

I played more Amber Isle and I only have a few achievements left but those are tied to a few bugs the game has. But I know the developers are hard at work to fix those pesky bugs, so I’m sure very soon I will be able to get those few missing achievements.

I have also played through Scarlet’s Haunted Hotel, a new upcoming time management game by Gamehouse and SQRT3. What I love about this entry is that it has a spooky story and has no ties with any of the other series made by Gamehouse/SQRT3 so it is a nice entry to try out a time management game.

Most interesting news of this week: Ubisoft launching Assassin’s Creed Mirage with Steam achievements, and they also added them to AC Valhalla!

Looking forward to playing: The Plucky Squire

This week I’m puppy sitting so I’ve had more time than usual for gaming, which is always a good thing, I’ve played lots of Aaero2, I’ve completed all advanced tracks and now I’m slowly earning more stars to hopefully unlock Master difficulty. On Kena: Bridge of Sprits I’ve made good progress this week and completed the first big quest of the game. A friend came over and we finally played Unravel 2 which still holds up pretty well now, some fun co-op gameplay mechanics and puzzles, hopefully, we get to finish that soon.

I’ve also been playing Roboquest on Xbox Game Pass, which is great fun apart from the checkpoints and can see you losing over 30 minutes of progress should you die. Still, it’s great fun, whether you go in all guns blazing or sit back with the sniper to clear the path. It plays like Borderlands and even has tons of weapons to discover.

Most interesting news of this week: Bioshock and Borderlands publisher 2K has announced Project Ethos, a new “roguelike hero shooter” dreamt up by Michael Condrey, the former co-founder of Call of Duty studio Sledgehammer Games.

Looking forward to playing: Kena: Bridge of spirits, Aaero2 and Pumpkin Jack which I’ve just picked up.
