Eyes on the Week (10th-14th October)

Time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

There were a small handful of games I played this week. I started by going back and completing the recent title update for 2URVIVE which quite literally involved me clicking on menu options; quite disappointing if you ask me as I enjoyed the gameplay when I finished it recently. Next, I started The Council, although purely to keep my achievement streak going as I wasn’t in the right mood to play it properly. I finally completed Smart Moves. I largely ignored going back to this as one of my achievements bugged and forced me to completely delete all my save data in order to return to a set series of levels and finish them for a second time; all good now though! Last but far from least, me and Lewis have been putting more time into Dead by Daylight recently and enjoying ourselves too! With the rank reset, recently released TOME 13: MALEVOLENCE, and Halloween event also in full swing, there is plenty to get stuck into and I will admit, there is something oddly satisfying about kicking pumpkins.

Most exciting news of this week: The release of Scorn on Xbox Games Pass today has me all excited as I do believe it will be supported by Cloud Gaming, meaning all of us people who don’t own a Series S/X can still enjoy the game! However, what uncategorically caught my attention this week though was the news of Xbox Games Pass coming to Meta Quest VR headsets. I may finally have a legitimate reason to set mine up!

Looking forward to playing: Scorn, Dead by Daylight, JUSTICE SUCKS, and anything else that takes my fancy I guess.

This week was all about Trifox! I don’t have all the secret gems yet but I’ll return to do that when I’m finished with my other review games. Sadly I can’t say a lot about those but I’m sure many of you are looking forward to it. I’m also playing Asterigos: Curse of the Stars for coverage but this is quite a task considering the difficulty and length of the game. I kinda missed the FIFA launch excitement this year, so be sure to pop me an invite if you want to lose a match.

Most exciting news of this week: Nothing to report this week.

Looking forward to playing: Nothing to report this week.

Mostly played Trifox as well… Still hurts that I worked on the game (as Community Manager, so that’s why I obviously couldn’t touch it as a reviewer) but that I still wasn’t one of the first with 1000G. Also played Light Kin, a Belgian title about collecting coloured sparks above a fire and it’s super addictive!

Most exciting news of this week: Unwrap took place in Kortrijk and had lots of interesting talks.

Looking forward to playing: SCORN!

This week has been an extremely busy week for me since I am about to release a demo for an upcoming game I have been working on, but I did manage to find some time to play a couple of games. The first one was Blade & Sorcery VR which puts you in the shoes of a self-made character who must take on hordes of Vikings, knights, and other warrior types in an arena deathmatch. The game is pretty gore and is quite visceral, so it is not for the faint of heart. On top of the melee combat, you can also cast spells and launch the enemy into the air, electrocute them as well as set fire to them. The game also has heavy mod support, so if you want to bring guns to a sword fight, have at it!

The final game I played this week was just before I wrote this. Scorn. I must admit I have been waiting for this game for what seems like forever. So far, I am having mixed feelings about it. On one hand, it is gorgeous to look at and there are some pretty cool scenes at the beginning, but already I find myself fighting against over-the-top complicated puzzles, a lack of direction, and a very slow pace of revealing what is actually going on here. If you are looking for a shooter, this isn’t it, and if you are looking for a story-driven game, this too might not be the right fit for you.

Most exciting news of this week: Xbox Cloud Gaming coming to VR! This way I can play all of my Xbox games on a huge cinema-sized private screen. THis is going to be awesome!

Looking forward to playing: More Scorn because I feel like I owe it to at least try.

Since I didn’t have to study this week, I managed to play a lot more than I did in the last 2 months. I played Overwatch 2 and I gotta say that it’s fun, but I wouldn’t call it a sequel to Overwatch, just an update with the equivalence of three. I also played a bit of Dead by Daylight again, although I didn’t perform too well, I still had some fun. I also played a bit of GTA IV again, still not quite finished with the main story and I have the 2 DLCs to play before I stop playing it.

I played Despot’s Game for an upcoming review, and it was quite an interesting game that’s definitely worth playing if you’re into roguelikes and/or tactical games, keep an eye out for the review.
Finally, I started playing Unusual Findings for another upcoming review, you can guess by its name that it’s inspired by Stranger Things, I haven’t played enough to go into much detail, but it’s a point-and-click adventure.

Most exciting news of this week: Xbox Cloud Gaming coming to Meta Quest is something that’s pretty interesting to me, even though I don’t own a VR headset.

Looking forward to playing: More of Unusual Findings and Maze Blaze for upcoming reviews, and if I can, I’ll play Overwatch 2 and/or Dead by Daylight and/or GTA IV.

This week has been a busy one.  So busy that besides feeding my not-quite-crippling Final Fantasy XIV addiction I was quite busy with other stuff.

I did, however, finally find a friend to play Phasmophobia with. I’d seen a good number of streamers play over the years, but never quite dipped my toes in alone. I’m happy to report it was every bit as scary as people say it is. But then again, I’m easily scared if I want to be.

Most exciting news of this week: Trifox launches on the 14th. Yes! Today! So do yourself a favour and go play it.

Looking forward to playing: Persona 5 Royal again when it hits all the other platforms.
