Eyes on the Week (10th-14th March)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

After completing Crime Opera Fandisk: The Caterpillar Candids last week and publishing my review, which can be read [HERE], I continued my playthrough of Crime Opera II: The Floodgate Effect and got to the end of the story. My review for this can be found [HERE] but as a quick note, I believe the first instalment was the better of the series thus far.

Although I haven’t done much on Genshin Impact since pulling Wriothesley, I have finished the battle pass again and will likely be slowing down a little until the next one. I’m still working on my reputation progress and collectables while using my resin for The Emblem of Severed Fate domain. Maybe once the next banners are confirmed, I can start hunting for Primogems again.

Overwatch 2 has been so-so. I still haven’t managed to climb out of Gold in competitive and Quick Play is like putting your hand in pick ‘n mix because you never know what you’re going to get. On another note, I’m enjoying the odd game of Tank. I only play Orisa and Reinheart as I feel somewhat confident with them. Whenever I try to play D.Va, the enemy team is always sweating so I think I’ll just stick to what I know for the meantime. Oh, and getting headshot dinks with Mei is beyond satisfying!

As my dad has kindly given me his Steam Deck to try out, I have been playing TCG Card Shop Simulator and enjoying running my own little shop. I’ve also been playing Grimoire Groves for review, but as I haven’t even played an hour yet, I can’t say much about the game yet even if I wanted to.

Most interesting news of this week: Powerwash Simulator 2 has been announced for a 2025 release. Plus, seeing an Xbox handheld might be releasing this year has piqued my interest. However, if it only runs Xbox games which are available with Cloud Gaming, I won’t be looking into getting one – even if it runs Steam and other PC programs.

Looking forward to playing: Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Overwatch 2, TCG Card Shop Simulator and Grimoire Groves,

I just played one hour of Endlight on Steam. It’s a pretty flashy game that people with epilepsy should avoid by all means. It’s unique in that you can never replay a level once it’s beaten, but once per year there is a difficult challenge that unlocks the replay option if you beat it. You basically just have to collect some hoops while flying around in 3D space among geometric shapes and effects, and levels can last seconds to minutes depending on how efficient you are. I feel like this doesn’t explain it well at all, so just look it up yourself and you’ll see what I mean.

On Switch, I’ve started playing Everhood 2 and it took me by surprise. It’s a mix of retro-RPG with rhythm gameplay and a pretty heavy story to tell. Go check out the review on LifeIsXbox [HERE] – Reading it was the reason I decided to pick it up myself 😁

On Xbox I’m still playing Pirates Outlaws, a Pirate deckbuilding game that is pretty addictive. After 8 hours of play, I still only have one achievement though. The one you get for beating the tutorial 😅 I will likely not achieve getting 1000G in this lifetime. Maybe my grandchildren will…

And on PlayStation 5, I’ve been diving back into Astro Bot now that they’ve added 5 new levels! Here is a Playthrough!

Most interesting news of this week: Belgian release ORDER 13, which is like a horror version of playing as an Amazon factory worker, reached the top3 of most-watched games on Twitch. Even surpassing World Of Warcraft.

Looking forward to playing: I’m going to dive back into Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door soon. I want to see the credits roll on that one.

I started this week with playing Wanderstop. What a beautiful game but with heavy subjects. I had a lot of fun with it, but be warned that it isn’t as cozy as the looks may let you think, it kinda is like a big therapy session.

As a pallet cleanser, I played the short and frantic game Lost but Found. In it, you work at an airport, returning lost items to passengers. People even manage to lose their pets!

Most interesting news of this week: The number of sales and game score for Split Fiction. This proves that the statement of EA’s CEO about players wanting Live Service Games is far from the truth.  Just make good games without them being rushed and launched buggy and without the sh**load of microtransactions.

Looking forward to playing: Mudborne: Frog Management Sim.

I’ve been playing more Avowed and making good progress. I’ve had to backtrack on some quests since my character isn’t powerful enough yet, but there’s so much to see while exploring, and it looks incredible!

I just finished playing Ultros, and I have mixed feelings about it. You can read my review here [HERE]

A friend came over and we played some more Worms W.M.D with a friend, and it was a barrel of laughs and great fun. One of us always messes up their turn.

I also continued playing Morkull: Ragast’s Rage, which is the game I’m currently reviewing.

Most interesting news of this week: Split Fiction hits 2 million sales after just 1 Week.

Looking forward to playing: Avowed, Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Morkull Ragast’s Rage.

It’s been quite the week for me this week. It was my girlfriend’s birthday and our anniversary. She recently got herself the G-Cloud handheld console, which she loves to play, and also the audiobooks: A Sleep Story with Degson Walks are out now.

Game-wise, I have been playing Balatro since it came out on Xbox Game Pass, but honestly, it’s not really holding my interest as much as other roguelike games out there. I’ve been playing a lot of Trash Goblin and a game called Thank Goodness You’re Here as well, one for the cosy game vibes and the other because it is hilarious.

Most interesting news of this week: Power Wash Simulator 2 was announced, and I cannot wait to see what they have in store for this next edition.

Looking forward to playing: More Trash Goblin, as there are some major updates coming soon.
